Regulated Construction Timber

Brochure(link)

We have a wide range of stocks of Regulated Construction Timber incorporating all the dimensions required for modern day building. As a timber merchant, SHM are clearly experts in the field, but there are other obvious benefits in buying your timber from us.

Softwood is the primary type of timber used in construction of housing in the modern world with Pine, being the most common species. This goes through a number of different grading processes to ensure you, as the customer, are getting the best possible quality product.

To improve the presentation and to eliminate any variation in timber dimensions our timber is regularized. This is where the sawn product is planed from 2 sides to ensure the measure is uniform and accurate. The variance we guarantee is +/- 1mm.

Our selection includes untreated and treated regulated construction timber!

P.S. As timber
is planed first and treated after – this assures that the timber is protected
from any fungal and insect attack.

Timber Treatment

Timber is impregnated with Tanalith E wood preservative under rigidly controlled conditions in a double vacuum / low pressure plant. Tanalith E is a green preservative treatment and is used with material below the DPC level and/or ground contact.

When impregnated into timber, the preservative components bond with the wood structure and cannot easily be removed. This gives the timber longterm protection against fungal and insect attack, including termites, for both in and out of ground contact, interior and exterior applications. Tanalised® E pressure treated timber has built-in water repellent.

In all branches there are advisors on hand if you need advice and guidance in making your selection, and we rack our timber in such a way to make it easy for you to identify and select the product you need.
