QUALITY REASONS - WHY TO BUY SHI TIMBER

The main difference between timber treated by SHI and that of other timber sellers can be easily detected when taking a look at a cross section of the timber. You will see how SHI timber is green also on the inside (not just on the outside) and the penetration of the chemical Tanalith E is almost up to the core of the timber. This is so because SHI uses vacuum pump technology to insert the Tanalith E into the timber.

Most all other Tanzanian timber sellers merely dip timber into a green-colored water mixture which gives their timber a green color on the outside, but fails to provide the effect of protecting it from termites, moisture and sun.

Other timber sellers are using arsenic based CCA treatment, which, however, is extremely toxic and detrimental to your health if timber with such treatment is used for building private houses.

Tanalith E which SHI uses is a wood preservative that is both environmentally conscious and effective.

Treatment

SHM timber is treated in Sao Hill Industries LTD treatment plant. Timber is impregnated with Tanalith E wood preservative under rigidly controlled conditions in a double vacuum/low pressure plant. Tanalith E is a green preservative treatment and is used with material below the DPC level and/or ground contact.

When impregnated into timber, the preservative components bond with the wood structure and cannot easily be removed. This gives the timber long term protection against fungal and insect attack, including termites, for both in and out of ground contact, interior and exterior applications. Tanalised® E pressure treated timber has built-in water repellent.

In all branches there are advisors on hand if you need advice and guidance in making your selection, and we rack our timber in such a way to make it easy for you to identify and select the the product you need.

Please see these pictures of "cheated" timber production and what is sold all over Tanzania in the name of treated timber - but it is not...
Also second and third picture are about the quality of timber - cracked, undersized and NOT rectangular - this is not quality timber!
